The Macrom brand was first registered in Germany in 1983
At that time the market was not well delineated; there was no clear division between hi-end products and the rest. The aim of
Macrom’s founders was simply to have a brand name dedicated to the true audiophiles, to the purists, to the music lovers.
Initially there was only a limited number of products (4 series of speakers), all oriented towards hi-end purists and with distribution in only a few European countries.
In 1989 a new group of investors created Macrom Ltd, with headquarters in Ireland and operations offices in Switzerland: the old brand was purchased by the new company with the aim of developing the world-wide market.
This was the turning point: in the following years Macrom expanded distribution to all European and Far Eastern countries and enlarged the product range with the addition of speakers and amplifiers that became real milestones for the industry:
1. Woofers, with their amazing internal multi-magnet and external voice coil, C.A.R. filter, and flat cones, working either in cabinets or in free air
2. Tweeters, known everywhere for the purity of their sound and their low resonance point in spite of their reduced size
3. The Midrange 58.08: a concentrate of innovative technologies (C.A.R. filter, multi-neodymium magnet, acoustic horn and soft dome) and great performance, still today a market leader
4. The “Integra” the only truly integrated speaker in the car audio market, perfect in off-axis use. A miracle, considering its exceptionally shallow mounting depth with respect to its diameter and performance
5. The first programmable amplifiers (44.06 and 44.07) born into a world where amps where just amps and
‘internal crossovers’ and ‘flexible use’ were generally viewed as bold new terms for the future
6. One of the first complete line of Class
“A” amplifiers, an incredible concentration of technology, power and protection
7. 24 carats, Macrom’s accessories. Another step ahead, another challenge, another product line that became a reference for the many installers in different countries.
And, on top of that, tremendous efforts have been dedicated to making Macrom quality and sound accessible to everybody: all the knowledge and experience acquired in the development of these masterpieces have been transposed into the construction of each basic line of speakers, amplifiers and crossovers.
In 1999 the company became Macrom SA, maintaining the operation offices in Switzerland.
Since then the company has continued to expand its activities in a number of directions:
1. The logo and general image were changed to reflect the new company trend and to prepare for new challenges.
2. Macrom product distribution has expanded into new countries
3. Product developments: major investments have led to a significant expansion of the product lines. No less than 80% of the products in the current catalogue have made their debut in the last 15 months.
4. Great efforts have gone into improving production efficiency, logistics, customer service and information.
This is Macrom’s history, and we are all very proud of it.
But what about the future? The answer is quite simple:
Macrom’s vision and mission have not changed at all.
Macrom is for those who cannot live without good music, and want to enjoy their life to the fullest while they are in the car
Macrom is a pure car audio company and its speakers and amps are designed to achieve the best possible results in the car environment
Macrom’s goal is to allow its customers to listen to great music without being obliged to install a gargantuan system: people must be able to have a good system without rebuilding their car interior.
Macrom products must be easy to install. Baskets, adjustments, fixing points, instructions and manuals
– everything is made to make life easy for those who install and listen to them.
Macrom speakers and amplifiers must be beautiful: their acoustic quality must not only be perceptible to the ears, but to the eyes as well. |
